U.S. use wheat starch as packing box

Recently, the research results presented at the American Chemical Society meeting showed that researchers in the United States have finally found a low-cost, environmentally friendly snack packaging material.

This new type of material uses wheat straw fiber and starch in the wheat kernel as raw materials, and the finished packaging box can be completely degraded. There had been packaging boxes made with potato starch before, but wheat starch was much cheaper than potato starch. Moreover, the packaging box using wheat starch as a raw material is better than the packaging box using potato starch as a raw material.

In the past, people mainly used polystyrene as a packaging material. Although polystyrene was light, easy to make, and well-insulated, it could not be degraded and contained ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons. In addition to being more expensive, heavier, and more complicated to make, cardboard has poor insulation properties.
