Industrial design has been developing in China for more than two decades. The industrial designer’s glorious dream has also been tenaciously continued for more than two decades. In my opinion, what is commonly referred to as "industrial design" should be decomposed into two conceptually different levels: the "form of industrial design" and the "ultimate" from the scope of the problems it faces, the objects it targets, and the methods and methods used. industrial design".

The so-called "form industrial design" is entirely a skillful knowledge system. In this level of concept, design is a kind of technical service means, and it is the ability to solve practical problems (mainly product form problems); to master this skill is to have the ability to conform to the social awareness and the ability to create the United States. The ergonomic knowledge, the ability to understand and use materials, processes, and production techniques, has a certain cultural connotation and outstanding performance techniques (just as the current domestic majority of design institutions put forward the students' training objectives); this level of design The main manifestations of creativity are to propose a solution to the target system and materialize the idea into the actual product. The so-called "ultimate industrial design" is a metaphysical scientific method, a systematic theory of man-made things; his value is not to solve the problem of the specific product shape, but to comprehensively consider people from a system-wide perspective. The relationship between nature, society, and society and its development trends, while taking into account the ecological environment, natural resources, and scientific and technological development, solves the deep-seated needs of human beings and creates a reasonable and healthy living style and living environment for human beings; she jumps out of technology and means. For a qualified industrial designer, only "form industrial design" or blind research "ultimate industrial design" in actual operation is one-sided and weak.

Industrial design in the full sense should be an organic combination of "skills + methods": without skills, methods can only be castles in the air and cannot play their guiding role in reality; without methods, skills can only be limited to endless forms of transformation. In the game, it is impossible to solve the deep problems of the society, and eventually it becomes the "strange and clever skill" of the modern society, and it is impossible to enter the "desire of elegance".
