The operator should have a deep understanding of the G7 process principle

In daily production control, operators must not only understand the principles of the G7 process but also grasp key concepts such as neutral gray density, HR, HC, SC, and more. Practical experience plays a vital role in mastering these techniques, as it often takes time and repeated practice to develop an intuitive sense for the G7 workflow. For example, when the CMYKRB six-color chromaticity values meet the standard, but the G chromaticity does not, what should the operator do? At this point, experience becomes essential. Since green (G) is a combination of yellow (Y) and cyan (C), adjusting the densities of Y and C can help bring the G color back into alignment. However, changes in Y density have minimal impact on the L and a values, while significantly affecting the b value. If the b value of G deviates greatly from the standard, the operator should focus on adjusting the Y density while keeping the C density stable.

Only through a deep understanding of the G7 process, combined with training, exploration, and familiarity with the complex relationships between various control points, can operators effectively apply the G7 method in production. Of course, real-world conditions may vary, so operators must adapt the data according to actual circumstances. After all, production isn’t about certification—it’s about achieving consistent quality. The data serves as a guide, not a strict rule. Experienced operators may also adjust standards based on product characteristics and personal insights, such as increasing density, enhancing contrast, or boosting saturation, which can lead to results that go beyond the baseline.
