Ryan Korban has reimagined luxury for a modern era, blending timeless elegance with a touch of romance, sensuality, and contemporary fashion sensibilities. His interior designs, showcased in over a hundred full-color photographs in his latest book, blend comfort and sophistication, offering readers a glimpse into how they can create personalized, glamorous spaces in their own homes.
Ryan Korban is refreshingly candid about the evolving role of interior design. "The idea of an interior decorator armed with a board of matching fabric swatches doesn't resonate with today's youth," he states in the introduction to his book, Ryan Korban: Interiors, published by Rizzoli. "Younger generations still value excellent design, perhaps even more so due to easy access to information, but they're not interested in overly formal settings. Instead, they seek an immersive experience."
This insight shapes the essence of Korban's design philosophy, which bridges traditional luxury with a modern twist. His studio has carved a niche in the design world by merging old-world charm with contemporary aesthetics, catering to both residential and commercial projects. With high-profile clients like Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, and Aquazzura, Korban is busier than ever.
For his book, Korban sifted through his portfolio to include previously unseen photos of his most memorable projects, ranging from chic Upper East Side townhouses to luxurious SoHo boutiques. "The selection reflects a more mature side of my earlier work, which I created in my 20s," Korban explains. "It was essential to showcase how I continue to blur the boundaries between residential and commercial design while encouraging people to appreciate design for its intrinsic value." Each section highlights his fascination with architecture, materials, and color, offering valuable lessons for budding designers: crafting spaces that captivate and leave a lasting impression.
Korban's signature style blends classic luxury, old-world romance, and urban edge, redefining traditional design for a new generation.
