Science and Technology Light up Life, Curriculum Achievement Dreams——Conceptual Construction of "Science and Technology Education Base" Project of Tuqiao Central Primary School in Jiangning District

As a blend of educational and entertaining activities, science and technology model programs have captured the interest of teenagers due to their informative, hands-on, and fun nature. Since 2003, our school has integrated aeromodelling into its curriculum as a school-based program, continuously expanding and improving it. Over the years, science and technology activities centered around aircraft models have flourished, achieving remarkable results and earning a strong reputation at the district, city, and provincial levels. As a century-old institution, we are actively shaping our unique educational identity. Our goal is to build a "Nanjing Rural School Children's Palace" that emphasizes science and technology, offering high-quality extracurricular experiences to students across the region. We aim to serve as a leading center for science education, supporting other schools in the area and inspiring young minds through innovative and interactive learning. The base currently features 13 project studios and a technology corridor, each designed to engage students in various scientific and technological activities. These include: 1. Simulated Driving Experience Room 10. Analog Remote Flight Experience Room 11. 3D Technology Film Screening Hall 12. Digital Weather Station 13. Landscape Integrated Power System 14. Technology Theme Gallery These spaces combine knowledge, fun, and entertainment, gradually expanding to meet the needs of other schools' science and technology education initiatives. They welcome small groups of students (up to 200 per session) for science-related social practice activities, helping cultivate an interest in science and technology through hands-on experiences. Students get to explore advanced technologies in simulated environments, stimulating innovation and enhancing their problem-solving skills. The joy of experiencing these tech-driven activities brings happiness and inspiration to young learners. In addition, the school serves as a summer and winter camp for students from the city and district, and it also acts as a high-level training center for aspiring young scientists. Guided by the concept of “Luxhuang Education,” our school has restructured the national curriculum and created a rich set of school-based courses. The course “I Will Try It” has become one of the signature programs within the Lechuang School-based curriculum. The science and technology education curriculum includes 13 content modules such as campus safety, electronic spelling, paper planes, creative science and education models, simulation flight, meteorological knowledge, agricultural technology, homemade ships, tangrams, aircraft model making, scientific inquiry, astronomy, environmental earthquake knowledge, etc. These modules are distributed across different grades and semesters based on students’ age and cognitive levels, forming a stable teaching system. Teachers are given flexibility with loose-leaf materials, allowing for continuous improvement and practical application. School Development Our school has received numerous awards, including “Nanjing Science and Technology Characteristic School (Model),” National Simulated Flight Guidance Station, Jiangning District “Three Models” Characteristic School, Jiangning District Characteristic School, National Science and Technology Sports Traditional School, “Jiangsu Province Youth Science Education Characteristic School,” and “Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Starlight Base School.” In recent years, our students have won nearly 1,000 awards at the district level, 249 provincial prizes, and 31 national awards (including 12 first-place wins). Notably, we have also won the special prize in the “Happy Science” TV competition in Jiangsu Province, placed as third runner-up, and achieved seven championships in the National Simulated Remote Control Flight Championship, along with first and second prizes in the Fourth National Sports Conference. In addition to student achievements, our teachers have also gained recognition. Several outstanding science and technology counselors have emerged, receiving honors at national, provincial, municipal, and district levels. Their dedication and expertise continue to drive the success of our science and technology education programs.
