As a set of educational and entertaining activities, science and technology model programs have become popular among teenagers due to their informative, practical, and fun nature. Since 2003, our school has introduced aeromodelling as a school-based curriculum, continuously promoting and improving it. Over the years, science and technology activities centered around aircraft models have developed rapidly, achieving remarkable results. These programs now enjoy a high reputation at the district, city, and provincial levels.
With the gradual establishment of our school's scientific and technological identity, as a century-old institution, we are actively planning the development of our unique characteristics. Our goal is to create a "Nanjing Rural School Children’s Palace" that emphasizes science and technology, providing quality extracurricular resources to students across the region. We aim to lead by example and meet the growing needs for science education in surrounding schools.
Our base currently features 13 project studios and a technology corridor, including the Electric Aviation Model Experience Hall, Navigation Model Experience Hall, Creative Paper Airplane Production Room, Creative Science and Education Building, Electronic Hundred Fight Area, Four-door Football Arena, Aircraft Model Making and Tangram Room, Vehicle Model Safety Driving Experience Field, Technology Model and Results Exhibition Room, Simulated Driving Experience Room, Analog Remote Flight Experience Room, 3D Technology Film Screening Hall, Digital Weather Station, Landscape Integrated Power System, and Technology Theme Gallery.
These venues are designed to be both educational and enjoyable, gradually expanding in scale and variety to meet the needs of other schools’ science and technology practice bases in the district. They accommodate small groups of students (about 200 per session) for science and technology social practice activities. Through these experiences, students can develop an interest in science and technology, explore advanced scientific concepts in simulated museums, and enhance their innovative thinking and practical skills. The joy of experiencing technology is central to our mission.
Additionally, the school has become a popular destination for summer and winter camps for students from the city and district. It also serves as a high-level training center for aspiring young scientists.
The curriculum plays a vital role in shaping children's development and is a core component of school education. Guided by the concept of "Luxhuang Education," our school has integrated science and technology education into its overall curriculum framework. This includes reconstructing the national curriculum and developing school-based courses. One of the featured courses is “I Will Try It,†which highlights hands-on learning and innovation.
The science and technology education curriculum is structured into 13 content modules, such as campus security, electronic spelling, paper planes, creative science and education models, simulation flight, meteorological knowledge, agricultural technology, homemade ships, tangrams, aircraft model making, scientific inquiry, astronomy, environmental earthquake knowledge, and more. These modules are distributed across different grade levels based on students' age and cognitive development, forming a stable teaching system that allows teachers flexibility through loose-leaf binding and continuous improvement.
Our school has been recognized with numerous awards, including "Nanjing Science and Technology Characteristic School (Model)," National Simulated Flight Guidance Station, Jiangning District “Three Models†Characteristic School, Jiangning District Characteristic School, National Science and Technology Sports Traditional School, "Jiangsu Province Youth Science Education Characteristic School," and "Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Starlight Base School."
In recent years, our students have won nearly 1,000 district-level awards, 249 provincial prizes, and 31 national awards, including 12 first-place victories. Notably, the school also won the special prize in the "Happy Science" TV competition in Jiangsu Province and secured multiple championships in national competitions.
In addition to student achievements, our teachers have also gained recognition. Several outstanding science and technology counselors have emerged, receiving awards at national, provincial, municipal, and district levels. Their dedication continues to drive the success of our science and technology education initiatives.
