Ozone aging box operation precautions

Ozone aging chambers are widely used in the testing of rubber products such as vulcanized rubber, thermoplastic rubber, and cable insulation sheaths. These devices simulate real-world conditions by exposing samples to a controlled environment with constant ozone concentration and temperature. Under static tensile deformation, the samples are placed inside an airtight chamber for a specified period. After the test, the surface of the samples is inspected to evaluate their resistance to cracking or other forms of degradation, which helps determine the ozone aging resistance of the material.

When performing tests in an ozone aging chamber, it's important to follow these key safety and operational guidelines:

1. Ensure that the power supply includes an overload fuse specifically for this equipment. A proper grounding system is essential not only for the safety of the operators but also to prolong the life of the device. Always check that the electrical connections are secure and free from faults before use.

2. Number each sample individually and place them on the test carousel. Make sure the samples do not touch or collide with each other during the test. This ensures even exposure to ozone and consistent testing conditions across all samples.

3. Once everything is set up, close the chamber door and turn off all control switches. Plug the power cord into the socket and switch it on. The control system’s power indicator should light up. If heating is required, activate the high or low-temperature switch and adjust the automatic control system accordingly.

4. Place the ozone aging chamber in a well-ventilated area on a flat, horizontal surface. Avoid placing any flammable or explosive materials near the device to prevent potential hazards.

5. In some cases, a knife switch may be installed in the power line for added safety. Before using the chamber, always check the electrical performance and ensure there are no open circuits or leaks. Note that the chamber is not explosion-proof, so never place flammable or explosive substances inside.

6. Do not overcrowd the chamber. Leave enough space for hot air to circulate freely, which is crucial for maintaining uniform temperature and ozone distribution throughout the test.

By following these procedures carefully, users can ensure accurate and reliable results while maintaining a safe working environment. Regular maintenance and inspection of the chamber are also recommended to keep it functioning properly over time.
