On July 2, 2014, the 5th International Furniture Culture Capital of China’s Western Furniture Trade Capital was officially reopened in Chengdu Bayi Furniture Plaza, marking a significant milestone for Sichuan's furniture industry. This event aimed to promote home culture, drive industrial growth, and help Sichuan transition from a major furniture producer to a strong industry leader. The festival attracted over 5,000 furniture manufacturers and tens of thousands of brands, creating a vibrant atmosphere as dealers from across the country gathered to explore new opportunities.
At the opening ceremony, prominent figures from the furniture sector attended, including Zhu Changling, Chairman of the China Furniture Association, Liu Jinliang, Vice Chairman of the association, He Daiqiang, Executive Vice President of Chengdu Bayi Furniture Group, and other key leaders. Their presence underscored the importance of the event and highlighted the growing influence of Sichuan’s furniture market.
He Daiqiang emphasized that Bayi Furniture City had become a top destination for furniture buyers nationwide, offering an efficient platform for trade and reinforcing its brand image as “Never Ending Furniture Exhibition.†The festival was expected to be a huge success, showcasing Sichuan’s potential on a national scale.
Two major events were announced during the ceremony: the “Sichuan Furniture National Tour Exhibition†starting in 2015, which will involve cooperation with furniture associations from multiple provinces, and the “First Spring Ordering Conference of the Western China Furniture Trade Capital and Sichuan Furniture Dealer Conference,†scheduled for March 12–16, 2015. These initiatives aim to strengthen regional collaboration and boost sales.
Zhu Changling, Chairman of the China Furniture Association, praised the event as the “Inland First Furniture Culture Festival,†highlighting its rich content and growing influence. He commended the Sichuan Furniture Industry Chamber of Commerce for its efforts in transforming the province into a stronger player in the furniture industry. The festival also featured a photography contest and an award ceremony, adding a cultural dimension to the event.
Looking ahead, the Sichuan Furniture Industry Chamber of Commerce aims to support enterprises by implementing training programs and introducing advanced management practices. It also plans to recognize top distributors nationwide, sharing their successful strategies to better serve customers.
The first spring trade fair, set to take place before major exhibitions in Guangdong, is expected to bring together thousands of brands and over 60,000 distributors. This centralized event will save time and costs for dealers while offering a broader selection of products.
Additionally, the Sichuan National Furniture Tour will begin in March 2015, aiming to bring Sichuan furniture to markets nationwide. As Wang Xuemao, President of the Sichuan Furniture Industry Chamber of Commerce, stated, the goal is to make it easier for dealers to access Sichuan furniture and expand its reach. With these initiatives, Sichuan’s furniture industry is poised for continued growth and global recognition.
