In addition to age restrictions, the bill also strictly regulates the sale of alcohol and prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in restaurants, student apartments, hospitals, stadiums, educational institutions, cafes, dessert shops, etc., and offenders will be punished with 10,000 to 10 Wan Li (approximately 35,000 to 350,000 yuan) fine. Shops selling alcoholic beverages must be at least 100 meters away from schools and religious sites, and must not sell alcohol between 10 pm and 6 am.
In addition, the Act requires that any alcoholic beverage must be labeled like a cigarette with a warning sign that is harmful to health. Products without warning information will be prohibited from being sold. The bill also prohibits any form of commercial propaganda and promotion of alcoholic beverages, and there must be no unblurred alcoholic beverages in television dramas, movies and audiovisual products.
For drunk driving, the bill is also “behind the handâ€. If the driver's alcohol content per 100 ml of blood is higher than 50 mg, driver's license will be temporarily suspended for 6 months and imposed a fine of 700 lire (about 2450 yuan); if the alcohol content is higher than 100 mg per 100 ml of blood , will face up to 2 years imprisonment.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his support for the “Limiting Wine Order†at the bill hearing. He said, "We don't want the younger generation to indulge in alcohol all day long. They shouldn't waste themselves. Young people should keep a clear head and reserve more knowledge. We need to take some measures for this."
