The Schomaker oil sampler is produced by the German Hydrografisches Institute (DHI), and it is the first time in the world that the water content of the sample is very small, and enough oil samples can be collected for research.
Its operation and handling are very simple: the sampler is thrown onto the water with a nylon string. The floating body leads the petroleum sample to a suitable position, so that the petroleum sample forms a thin layer with a thickness of only a few millimeters, and the oil layer passes through the sampling funnel and enters the glass bottle.
