Tips for choosing professional digital proofing equipment

Make the right decision
When the printing industry first began to accept digital proofing technology, there were many proofing systems on the market that were not well designed and whose accuracy needed to be improved. And now with the advancement of technology and the emergence of color management software, more and more high-quality and low-cost proofing solutions are available for people to choose from. Inkjet proofing is the most popular and cost-effective one. High-quality inks and substrates allow inkjet proofers to achieve the highest level of image reproduction.

Digital proofing has many ink options: inks based on pigments or dyes, thermally activated (thermally activated) inks, and ultraviolet light-active proofing materials. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, and it is easy to confuse people. In fact, we only need to remember one thing, that is: if it can be properly installed, calibrated and operated, then every digital proofing device on the market now can meet people's requirements and achieve good results.

All digital proofing equipment have one thing in common. They all take into account the three color elements involved in all printing processes: the color of ink, colorant or stain; the color of the substrate and the percentage of the color printed on the substrate. You can control these elements through color management software. Therefore, when the proofing system can produce the same or higher tone value as the printing press, you can also predict the final printing effect.

Many current proofing devices are predictable and have a very good color gamut. When choosing a digital proofing device, everyone must consider two factors, one is the price (and the composition of the product price); the other is the customer's approval.

Price composition

The price of digital proofing equipment is between US $ 3,000 and US $ 150,000. The price of equipment mainly depends on the quality of the outlets. If you must get clean and clear rose spots for the printing house to view under a 20x magnifying glass or microscope, then you need to buy a digital proofing machine worth $ 150,000. The quality of the outlets that different devices can achieve is also different. In general, as the quality of the outlets improves, the price of the proofing system will increase accordingly. You must know what quality outlets you want to get.

In addition, the price of the proofing equipment is also related to its speed, reliability, RIP function, calibration function and technical support. Generally speaking, the price and speed of inkjet printers are lower than those of primary color devices. The inkjet proofing system using pigment ink can also print images that do not require conditional color matching (the color of the image will change under different lighting conditions). If you think that speed is the most important, then first determine the proofing equipment Is it possible to produce proofs that can be accepted by customers and production departments at an ideal speed. Remember, your goal is not to produce an unqualified proof at the fastest speed. In fact, two slower proofers are better than one faster and one less accurate.

Another price factor is that most digital proofing equipment dealers will select some equipment for cheap sales. They mainly want to make money from materials such as substrates and inks, not printers. Therefore, dealers generally provide calibration and training services to customers at relatively low prices. And the paper used with the printer can usually print better colors.

Reliability is the last factor that people consider when pricing equipment. Failure of the equipment will consume your profits. When choosing a proofing device, first understand the frequency of printhead replacement and linearization and calibration of the device. Environmental issues cannot be ignored. High prices do not mean reliable. Before you choose a highly reliable proofing device, you must first determine your requirements for the quality, speed and price of the outlets.

Recognized
Customer recognition is the most important. Your customers may have high requirements for images, or they may just want beautiful pictures. Beautiful pictures are usually filled with various bright colors (red, blue, green), for example, bees gather honey on various flowers. Such customers who like beautiful pictures will basically not look at the gray balance, only experts will check the grayscale of the image as soon as they come up. Therefore, you must consider the needs of customers when selecting equipment.

Smart customers want two things: accurate image copying (according to documents submitted by customers) and predictable proofing equipment. The accuracy of documents and the predictability of printing seem to attract little attention, but many proofing equipment will eventually surprise people. These proofing devices, which cannot produce accurate proofs, will cause trouble to the sales staff and will also affect the reliability of the printed matter.

I think customers have the right to see accurate color proofs before printing. If I am a customer, I want to be able to get the prints that are exactly the same as the samples I signed before printing. Although I know that there may be some color deviations in the printing process, I still hope that the color of the printed product can be as close as possible to the proof.

Some customers want to get clear dots and rose spots on the proofs. If only a few customers need to get clear, traditional outlets, then you do n’t need to spend $ 150,000 to meet the requirements of this small group of customers (about 5%). You can purchase an ordinary proofing system to meet the needs of 95% of customers, and then outsource work with special requirements to a special service agency to do it.

Some digital proofers can produce simulated rose spots, and RIP software can sometimes handle similar tasks. The digital proofer can also print these rose spots. Therefore, this ability is very valuable when customers want to view full-size partial proofs.

When printing rosettes of full-size proofs at a lower screen count (85 lines / inch or even lower), the value of the dot simulation function can be reflected. High-line-count samples using inkjet or primary color proofers cannot print sufficiently clear dots, so it is not conducive to people finding moiré in advance.

Reflectance is also a parameter that people pay more attention to when viewing proofs. It can be controlled by selecting substrates, but be aware that shiny proofs are very unfavorable for sample tracking during production. I've seen many salespeople say that customers buy proofs, not prints. Although the products they printed may be matte or even matte, they still wanted a high-gloss proof. I will not accept such proofs, and I believe that customers also see proofs that are as close as possible to the final product. If the sales staff insists on using high-gloss proofing, then you must ensure that the proofing equipment used has the function of producing high-gloss digital proofs, or consider outsourcing the work.

The best proofs are prints
A predictable and accurate sample allows the prepress department to produce standard documents, regardless of which equipment will be used for printing. If the printing equipment is also predictable, then what people need to do seriously is color management. When the job is transferred or printed on two different printing machines or imaging, the prepress department does not need to adjust the color of the document. The prepress staff should have the confidence that once the accurate digital proofing equipment is used to produce qualified color proofs, they will be able to see prints with consistent colors in the production process.

Whether in the field of screen printing, offset printing, flexographic printing or digital printing, accurate and stable digital proofing equipment can bring you huge benefits. When you have a device dedicated to proofing, you can quickly and accurately evaluate the digital file and make appropriate adjustments to its color. Then, you can turn on the printing press directly for production, without the situation of letting those expensive printing presses idling when you make the final adjustment. Remember: The printing press is used for production, not for proofing.

Individual magic trick, also known as Single Magic Trick, means a Single Magic prop that can be performed alone in a magic show.

There is no need to make any complex packing for an individual trick. Normally it can be packed in a polybag with a paper instruction or it can be put into a ziplock bag, then into a 4 color printing gift box. Single tricks packed in that way would not cost much.

Of course if you want to make them exquisite and in high range, we can put an individual trick and a cute guide book in a blister tray and then into a nice designed 4 color printing gift box.
