Germany's Reifenh launches new seven-layer cast polypropylene line

Recently, equipment manufacturer Reifenh in Germany launched a new seven-layer cast polypropylene production line. The produced CPP film is transparent and has a high output of up to 300 m/min. The kit contains seven extruders, a seven-layer feed zone and a flat die. Encapsulation devices are installed on both sides to reduce the generation of scrap and scrap, and the scrap is put into one of the extruders, thereby increasing the recovery rate and reducing the processing cost. Equipment output is above 1000kg/h, film width is 2000mm, film thickness varies from 0.012mm to 0.250mm. Equipment is mainly used in the PP market, such as barrier and metallized PP film, stretch film and so on.

According to Michael Beckhoff, general manager of the company's cast film and coating film production line, the device can monitor the production status of the equipment through the company's virtual private network to prevent line incidents.

The device has an optimized spiral arm winding machine, WF-D04, with a winding diameter of 1000 mm. In the gap mode, the winding machine including the substrate tension control system works together with the roller shaft to change the film winding density. Winding speed is below 250 meters/minute. In the contact mode, there is a cell that controls the pressure, at which point the CPP film is wrapped in plastic at 300 meters/minute.

CPP film production equipment can use a single-layer cast extrusion line, but also can use a more flexible three-layer production line. The type and specification of the equipment is determined by the intended use of the product and the end use of the film.

Most modern production lines with competitive advantages for producing CPP films often involve industry-standard 3-layer co-extrusion. Normally, cores are produced using large extruders (100 mm or 150 mm) capable of producing expanded structural layers. The surface layer is fed by a small extruder (60 mm or 90 mm), which provides good sealing or better performance in the metallization process.

Due to the complexity of the production process, high-speed extrusion cannot be achieved in the CPP production process. Although great improvements have been made in recent years, the production speed is still lower than other products such as stretched films. Therefore, the introduction of a new seven-layer production line by Reifenh in Germany is a major breakthrough in CPP cast production technology.
